Enhancing Public Transport Accessibility and Connectivity for Dubai Stations
Project Overview:
Crown Consult partnered with the RTA to design and implement comprehensive infrastructure improvements around 10 metro and 3 marine stations in Dubai.
Project Scope:
- Comprehensive catchment area study: Analyzed a 1 km radius around each station to identify opportunities for improved connectivity and accessibility.
- Non-motorized transport (NMT) network design: Developed dedicated pedestrian and cycling paths to encourage active travel options.
- Multimodal interchange design: Streamlined connections between various transportation modes, facilitating seamless passenger transfers.
- Safety improvements: Implemented measures to prioritize pedestrian and cyclist safety, including traffic calming and dedicated crossings.
- Inclusive design: Ensured accessibility for people with special needs through ramped walkways, tactile paving, and accessible signage.
- Landscape design: Created inviting public spaces that enhanced the overall station experience.
- Tender document preparation and contractor selection: Managed the procurement process to appoint a qualified contractor for implementation.
- Construction phase support: Provided ongoing site supervision and addressed design changes during construction.
- Stakeholder management: Collaborated effectively with local authorities and stakeholders to obtain necessary approvals.
