Connecting Residents and Welcoming Pilgrims with Efficiency and Sustainability.

Project Overview:

Crown Consult played a key role in the conceptual design of three vital Mass Rail Transit Lines within Makkah region. These lines, spanning a total of 40 kilometers, aim to efficiently connect residents and visitors with major destinations in the city. They will also connect pilgrims with holy sites during Hajj, including Mount Arafat, Muzdalifah, and Mina.

Highlights:

  • Designed three 40-kilometer metro lines that seamlessly integrate with existing infrastructure.
  • Optimized and designed interfaces with other transport networks for smooth connectivity.
  • Accommodated unique service requirements of Hajj season peak through resilient and scalable design solutions.
  • Developed a comprehensive understanding of stakeholder needs and site conditions to inform robust conceptual designs.
  • Exceeded expectations by completing the project on time, within budget, and adhering to core principles of sustainability, scalability, resilience, and future-proofing.

Impact:

These Mass Rail Transit Lines are poised to become the busiest seasonal mass transit system globally, catering to an estimated 72,000 passengers per hour per direction during Hajj. By providing efficient and sustainable transportation, this project will significantly contribute to the comfort and safety of the residents and pilgrims, while supporting the long-term development goals of the Makkah region.
